Play #033 How To Fire Up Your Sales Team
Three powerful ways to motivate your team
Welcome to the Play #033 of the Sales Transformation Newsletter. Each week I will bring you one Sales play that is tested through scaling multiple 7-figure B2B businesses that you can put into action to scale your business.
Every sales leader has had times when they have struggled to motivate their team.
I know I have before and have made many mistakes by trying things that didn't work.
In my experience as a sales leader, I have collectively had 200+ reps report to me.
Here are three powerful ways to motivate your team:
Set Exciting Goals
It shows your team what they need to do to be successful.
Talk to your team and create goals together.
Everyone should know what they are working towards.
Remember, goals should be like a basketball hoop—not too high that it’s impossible to reach, but high enough to challenge the team.
Have both big and small goals around different KPIs.
Once a goal is met, celebrate the achievement.
Getting wins will build momentum towards the larger goals.
Be a Cheerleader
I know these might seem silly, but imagine being in a basketball game
with no cheering crowd.
That would be boring, right? Your team needs to cheer each other on.
Appreciate their hard work and efforts. High-five them when they make a good sale.
Say, "Great job!" or "You’re doing awesome!" when they do well. This will make them feel like superstars and drive them to push themselves harder.
Teach and Learn Together
Learning in sales is important and very rewarding for most people.
Invest your time and your money in your team to help them be better people and better sellers.
Learning something new together as a team can be a great team-building exercise.
And when your team knows you are investing in them, they will self-motivate to do better.
In conclusion, being a Sales Leader is like being the captain of a sports team. You set the goals, cheer your team on, and keep learning.
Follow these three steps and watch your sales team rise to greatness!
